Based at UNESCO-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park World Heritage site, Uluru or Ayers Rock is Australia’s one of the biggest mysteries.
Considered to be around 500 million years old, the mountain has a rich geological and cultural history. For the Native “Anangu tribe”, Uluru is a holy place and the base of their divine world.
Here are, some strange baffling facts about the place:
To people’s wonder, in the middle of a baking heatwave, the rain will suddenly start to pour over Uluru- and only “Uluru”. While scientists have yet to figure out the process, the Anangu have zero difficulties forecasting it.

As per the local legends, Uluru is at the junction of all the holy paths that holds memories of demigods and celestial beings with their adventure and experiences. According to Anangu beliefs, their souls reside in the surrounding nature.
Other tribes considers it to be a mythical animal that raises its head out of the sand to inspect the desert once a year. The tribe predicts a day and organizes a feast in which several comes with offerings and ask for forgiveness.

The Anangu considers that bad luck will begin for whoever climbs Uluru. While there is no concrete proof of the saying, many hikers have had heart failure after getting to the top. Also to add to this, tourists who took rocks from the mountain as a souvenir, have returned it as it is believed to be bringing them a lot of misfortune!

If you hear about Uluru, you’re for sure going to be wondering about the bright colors that keeps on changing. Those are more likely to be dependent on the light that strikes its surface and the period of the year. Dawn typically fetches a bright pink, while in the noon it’s orange. Through the rare rainfall, Uluru can also become silver-greyish in color.
